Standish Dyson Jr.

Standish Dyson Jr. departed this life on Monday, June 19, 2023, at his residence at the age of 65. He was a native of Kentwood, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero, LA. Standish was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. He was a faithful and dedicated employee at West Jefferson Medical Center for twenty (20) plus years. Standish earned his certification from Delgado Community College in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and was self-employed until he retired. Loving husband of 25 years to Debra Shephard Dyson. Devoted father of Standish Dyson III, Dasia Denise Dyson, and Joshua David Dyson. Son of Maxine Briggs Dyson Burkhalter and the late Standish Dyson Sr. Stepson of the late Artis Burkhalter. Grandson of the late Joe Dyson, Idella Magee, Matthew Briggs, and Eular Briggs (Eugene) Dyson. Brother of Jacqueline Briggs of Arlington, TX, Wanda (Leon) Mcall of McDonough, GA, Andrea Burkhalter of Warner-Robins, GA, and Latonya Burkhalter of McDonough, GA. Son-in-law of Gloria Shephard and the late Hardy Shephard. Standish is also survived by his godchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church 817 Grefer St. Harvey LA., on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service at the above-named church. Dismissal Service at Union Chapel AME Church 23011 Silver Creek Rd, Kentwood, LA on Sunday July 2, 2023, at 2:00p.m. Interment: Union Chapel AME Church Cemetery – Kentwood, LA.
