It was my honor to spend a brief time in the Assaf Lakeview home some 40+ years ago, via Ronny. What a special place - such palpable love. I remember Stephen, vaguely. Your words make me feel like he was one of my best friends. Peace be with you all.

Stephen was a regular here at Fleur De Lis Car Care on West Harrison and Fleur De Lis. He always came and got a few dollars of gas on his way to pick up scrap metal. My father-in-law, C. Ray, always loved talking to him. C. Ray passed on the 14 th, I can only imagine they are both up there talking about the neighborhood and the good old days before Katrina.

Stevie, as I always knew him, was one of the nicest guys I ever met. Always cheerful, and never had a bad word for anyone. We played guitar together so many times. I saw him less than a week before he left us, way too soon.

Stephen and I grew up together, went to St. Dominic's together, went to Brother Martin together, double dated at our Senior Prom, played music together, fished together in City Park and the Lake. We were in Chorus together, hung out together. I will miss him very much.

After being stricken by 3 strokes and having to quit my Retinal Photogragher job & part-time Armstrong Park & Jackson Square weekend gig. Taking a nighttime job at Nephews Ristorante busing tables at night allowed me to work in a cooler environment while recovering. I met Stephen a kind, gentle, gifted, & funny soul. He shared his incredible guitar playing and singing with us! I immediately became a fan and wanted Stephen to teach me guitar to aid with my physical therapy. I have lost a beautiful friend. Our friendship, although short was second to none! Sending prayers and love to his family & friends. I will miss my friend and will never forget this Gift from God! R.I.P Steve.
