Steve Young

1938 - 2024

Steve Young entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the age of 85. He was a native of Franklinton, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Steve was educated in the Washington Parish School System. He was a retired employee with T. Smith and Sons as a foreman/stevedoring for over 37 years. Beloved husband of the late Hilda Lee Young. Devoted father of Stephanie Turner, Derrick (Janet) Young, Melanie (Sherman) Johnson, Jerry (Jarrdaye) Young, Steven (Shanitha) Young, Tracy (Landon) Chambers, Petrina Beasley, Cory Young, and the late Bobby Earl Burton. Son of the late Evans Tyree and Zula Young. Great-grandfather of the late Shanon, Jr. Brother of Ella Rose Harvey, Catherine Simmons, Emily Barbara Bell, Naomi Morgan, Tyree Young, Jr., and the late Rudolph, Wesley, Alfred, Denver, William, and Mary Eliza. Brother-in-law of Hilmon Jackson, Michael Hewitt, Gerald Bailey, and Gregory Dillard, Bronis Marie Bailey, Carolyn Dillard, Freddie Young, and Marilyn Young. Nephew of Ella Jackson. Best friend of the late Roger Robinson. Steve is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness USA, Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Viewing at Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness, USA, 1339 Gallier St., New Orleans, LA on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness, 2200 Greenlaw Ave., Franklinton, LA on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time at the above-named church.
