I went to St. Edward the Confessor with Steven. Steven was rather quiet, but one time a classmate was unnecessarily teasing another classmate, and I remember Steven stepping in and defending the kid. Steven never got loud or rude, but he stood his ground for what was right. If more people had his integrity, the world would be a better place.

Where do I begin.... what an amazing young man... I met him through friends, and each and every time we were together, whether for football games, The Red Dress Run......Mardi Gras...he was the life of the party....I think what I will remember most about Steven is how proud he was about his losing weight and I loved seeing his post on FB about how happy he was about it. And that smile....look at all his pictures... Always Smiling.. Always having fun...Always so sweet and funny.......Steven , you will surely be missed by so many that loved and knew you........May you fly high with your Golden Wings and watch over all who knew and loved you..........

Steven was a part of our Saturday morning "family" and will be sadly missed. He was always willing to share his antics, successes and challenges . . . and his stories were honest, often hysterical and, at times, touched our hearts. We are all so privileged that he was a part of our lives. Steven will live on in our memories and in our hearts.

Over the past year I had the privilege of meeting with Steven on several occasions through the EJ Library Writers' group. He was a recognized asset to the group and will be deeply missed by all. His active participation and poignant perspective when critiquing other work, was a positive influence on myself and undoubtedly others in the group. He helped me be a better writer. His own witty writing captured aspects of life's challenges, yet while never losing his dry, clever sense of humor that shined through on a cloudy day, making everything just a bit easier.
He is in a better place, and I wish him well.

Diane, I was so shocked to hear of Steven. You and I shared so very much during those days in 1978--when my Stephen was born in October and your Steven in December. He was such a sweetheart. Distance and time have not dulled our friendship. I am here for you... Sandy Walton

It's always a sad day when a Raider passes, even more so when it's a fellow classmate of 1997. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Steven and May God accept him with open arms.

Dear Diane and Marcus,
I feel lucky to say that I spent some of the best years of my life with Steven. We met while studying film at the University of New Orleans, and have been friends ever since. I have so many beautiful and of course, REALLY funny memories of him. My Dad and Steven used to poke fun at each other, seeing who could come up with the most clever comebacks. It really was something to behold. My Dad passed away a while ago, and I hope those two have reunited to have another laugh. Steven is so special to me, and to my family. There never was a time where I wasn't smiling while he was around, and even now, I can't help but smile when I think of him. He brought light to my life and I love him for that. I send my love and prayers to you.

Had a heart of pure gold and was a good person to the core- those are the best words that I can think of to describe Steven. He thought only of others and made the world a much better place. His smile was contagious. Our hearts are broken for your loss of this wonderful person.

November is traditionally a month of giving thanks, Black Friday shopping fun & counting down to Christmas. But this year, it's the month I have to say goodbye to my dear friend, Steven. He was one of the most kind-hearted, selfless, hysterical people I have ever know. I looked forward to our playful, sarcastic banter everyday. We worked together for nearly 3 yrs...the most difficult years of. my. life. I could always count on Steven to make me laugh when I was about to cry over whatever stupidness my ex was pulling and on the best of days we laughed over whatever the day's drama consisted of. Steven had the BEST laugh and, oh my gosh, that horrible attempt at a British accent he would do was hysterical!
I know you're spreading your beautiful spirit on the other side, Ste! ...but we are going to miss you dearly. I feel it's only fitting to conclude this message with your fave tag-line "GURL BYE!"

Whenever i had the occasion of being with Steven, it was impossible to walk away without smiling. He brought levity, love and humor to my heart. At St. Dominic's All Saints' Day Mass when the first graders sang the Litany of the Saints, I felt blessed to say, "St. Steven Pray for us." I know he will intercede for his beloved family in this time of tremendous sadness.
Blessings and Love,

I only met Steven a few times, when I would visit my daughter and son-in-law, but those few times left a lasting impression on me. He was funny, sweet, compassionate, and was a mainstay in Teresa's adjustment to life in NOLA from NY. I will pray for him and for all those lucky souls who knew and loved him.
