I offer my deepest condolences to both his natural and work family. I am so grateful that our paths crossed, and I was able to be in his class. He invested in his students' lives financially and educationally. He was such a comedian. He was also very humble. His presence is definitely missed.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Tarun´s passing.
Tatum was a Professor in my MBA program and later I had the privilege of becoming his colleague when I joined the UNO business faculty.
Over the years, I developed great respect for Tarun, for his professional achievements and for his gracious interactions with me.
I especially remember an instance as a student making a presentation to a class that Tarun led. I had overlooked a particular requirement and had taken the discussion to a suboptimal conclusion.
Tarun patiently heard me out and instead of calling out my oversight in a disparaging way, he commented that he saw that my assumptions had led to a workable solution. In so doing, he compassionately allowed me to "save face" before the audience, sparing much embarrassment. In the process, he led us to the better solutions while offering me a dignified, outcome.
This is but a small reflection of Tarun´s character. His contributions to students and UNO will be greatly missed.

From the moment I met Tarun, I could clearly ascertain how passionate he was about teaching, his students, finance, and the University of New Orleans. He was my professor before he became my colleague. From both his students and colleagues, he garnered the utmost respect. His 40 years of service to the University of New Orleans is much to be admired and appreciated. He has truly become a wonderful part of the University's legacy. He will be missed, but his memory and legacy will be ever-present.
