Thelma Frischhertz Obituary

Thelma Aileen "Ennie" Goodrich Frischhertz, age 81, longtime resident of Metairie, left this earth for eternal life with her Lord on January 19, 2019 at her residence in Opelousas, LA. She was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Ray Alton Goodrich and Thelma Perrin Goodrich. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray Alton Goodrich, Jr. Ennie was the beloved wife of the late Eugene "Gene" F. Frischhertz, Sr. for 57 years. She was a devoted, loving and proud Mother to her four children, Kim Frischhertz Morgan (Mark), Baton Rouge, Shawn Frischhertz LeBlanc (Glenn), Opelousas, Eugene F. Frischhertz, Jr. (Hope), Alexandria, and Scott D. Frischhertz (Joelle), Kenner. She was an incredible and doting grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Lindsay M. Duncan, Adam M. Morgan, Mallory M. Ludwig, Grant R. LeBlanc, Lauren L. Dauzat, Casie F. Gilbert, Erin F. Tijerino, Francis W. Frischhertz, Jonathan P. Frischhertz, Amanda F. Tassin, Scott D. Frischhertz, Jr. and Cody A. Frischhertz, and 14 great-grandchidren. Ennie's love of dance was evident from a young age, and her dance career began as a student of the Hazel Nuss School of Dance in New Orleans. After graduating from Warren Easton High School, she married the love of her life, her "Gene", in 1955 and began a family. In 1966, Ennie resumed her teaching career full-time at Jean Shane Patrick School of Dance. This professional partnership forged a life-long friendship with Jean Shane Patrick, a beloved friend who she considered a sister. "Miss Ennie" touched many, many students' lives through her love of the art of dance. In 1973, Ennie opened her own retail business, Ennie's Dancewear, servicing the dance and entertainment industry, including dance students, dance teams, Mardi Gras krewes and the like for many years until her retirement. Ennie also enjoyed traveling, shopping, Mardi Gras, and especially being there for the the many activities that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in. There is nothing in this world that Ennie enjoyed more than tearing up the dance floor with her beloved "Gene", who enjoyed dancing just as much as she did. Together, they were unstoppable and admired. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5PM - 9PM and Saturday, January 26, from 10AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Donald Blanchard. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to her caregivers, Charlotte and Erin, for the wonderful care she received. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance"…..from Ecclesiastes. Dance, sweet Mother, until we meet again! To view and sign the guestbook, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com

When I think of my childhood, Ms Ennie was definitely someone that comes to mind. She was our neighbor across the street. She was the one that sold me my first pair of tap shoes and taught me at Jean Shane Patrick Dance School. I am going to miss you Ms Ennie. I hope you are in heaven dancing with Mr Gene. You will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤Lori LeBlanc
