Thomas W. Keegan, III, born December 20, 1940, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, with his wife Jo of 42 years, children, grandchildren, and family surrounding him through his last days. As a graduate of Redemptorist High, he continued his studies at LSUNO. He had many talents and worked in several trades, from sales at Long Electrical Supply, a Heavy Equipment Operator thru Local 406, working turnarounds at plants and oil refineries, to commercial contracting and residential renovations as a small business owner. He ventured into Real Estate after renovating a condemned 105-year-old home with his wife Jo, and began their plan to invest, flip and manage small residential and rental properties. There were not many things he could not do, nor attempted to do with his large, strong build, bold hands, determined will, passion, and unyielding ingenuity. He had a gentle soul, never complained, and was always understated and humble, only showing pride for his family and especially his children, and many grandchildren. He could always hold his own physically, and in conversation with any and all. As a longtime resident of Old Jefferson, he was a St Agnes alumni and parishioner as a youth, and over the last 34 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Men's Club, and contributed much time to the Boy Scouts, and coaching at Jefferson Playground. T had a life full of family, love, and adventure, living vicariously and on the edge at times. All experiences helped mold him to be a major influence on many who knew him, always offering his strong but gentle "Catcher's Mit" hands, his supportive demeanor, and his brave sharing of lessons learned. In his later years, he enhanced his Faith, joining in prayer and further learning of God's path with his weekly Bible Study Group. Had many favorites in his life, chocolate, thanks to his mother, Italian food, chocolate, fast cars and motorcycles, chocolate, Karate, chocolate, playing cards, camping, dancing, and yes, chocolate. He was always grounded in local music and was a die-hard fan of all his children's careers and endeavors, from home renovations, gardening, pottery, fitness & sports, and music gigs. T is preceded in death by his parents Thomas W. Keegan and Lorraine Burns Keegan, (New Orleans), and brother Dale John Keegan. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Constantino Keegan, and his 6 children, Ronda Lorraine Keegan, Renée Keegan Trahan (Danny), Christine Keegan Westenberger, Thomas W. Keegan IV, (Brittani), Leo John Keegan, and Matthew Joseph Keegan; and 11 grandchildren, Christina Gonzales(Zach), Erica Westenberger, Katherine Gonzales (Cooper), Fritz Westenberger, Alissa Keegan (Lucy), Emily Westenberger, Sarah McCleskey, Ian Westenberger, Thomas W. Keegan V., Noland Keegan, and Sloan Keegan; and great-granddaughters, Avery Remie Gonzales; and Charlotte Campise. He is also survived by sisters, Barbara Keegan Henson, Gayle Keegan Weber Savoie, and Lacey Keegan Taylor, sisters-in-law, Godchildren, and many adoring nieces and nephews who greatly loved him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in T's honor to the
American Cancer Society or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
