I saw his interview online for Black History Month in Jefferson Parish and I wish to express my gratitude for his honesty about his experience as a boy integrating East Jefferson High School. When I was a little girl in Kenner (Lincoln Manor) Mr. Nunnery was our mail man. I called him...."my friend the mail man". I grew up, married a minister and we often ran into each other at church functions...and I still called him "my friend the mailman"....and even as a 50+ year old adult, he still called me "little Shelita"...lol.

We are deeply sadden by your loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with each family member.
Rev. Nunnery will always be remembered as a staunch supporter of education - especially in his community.
He served as Chaplain for the Jefferson Retired Teachers Association and arranged transportation for elderly retirees to and from local, district and state meetings. Memories of his service and dedication will live on in our heart.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my cousin, Rev. Thomas Nunnery Sr. He was kind, generous with his time and talents, and touched the lives of many people, including mine. I will always remember his words of encouragement and support. He was so proud of all the accomplishments of his family members. He will be missed.

My condolences to Sister Virgie and the entire Nunnery family. The love that pastor showed us , as he shared the Word of God with so much excitement, joy, and sincerity , you could feel the genuine love of Jesus through the scriptures as he delivered the meat of the Word. Pastor Nunnery was my Pastor when I visited New Orleans. Zion was my church home when I visited. He was a kind man and blessed my husband and I shortly after we were married.
