Thomas Zahn Obituary

ZAHN Thomas Edward Zahn passed peacefully into Heaven surrounded by family and friends on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the age of 58. He was the beloved son of the late Albert J. "Bubby" Zahn and the late Nedra Stumpf Zahn. Thomas was the loving brother of Albert J. Zahn, Jr. and Mary Beth Zahn Willem. He was the brother-in-law of Marlene LoCascio Zahn. He was the proud uncle of Albert J. "Chip" Zahn, Amanda Zahn Mazzella, Michelle Zahn, Aimee Willem, and Michael B. Willem, Jr. He was also survived by cousins John E. Porter, Pat Porter Levy, and Pam Porter O'Keefe. Tommy was born and raised in Lakeview where he attended St. Dominic School. Starting Jesuit in the 8th grade, he excelled both academically and athletically. Tommy served as a member of the Jesuit High golf team and was selected to represent Jesuit on the Presidential Physical Fitness team in Washington DC. Tommy received his B.S. in Accounting at the University of New Orleans and passed the Certified Public Accounting Exam shortly after. Tommy loved his job and the relationships he formed over the years. Throughout his life, Tommy enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard, spending time with his family and friends, Saints and LSU football. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Bud. Tommy was a loving friend to many. His family and friends will greatly miss him for his big heart and tremendous spirit. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 775 Harrison Ave., New Orleans, LA 70124, on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at church. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Jesuit High Alumni Association in honor of Thomas E. Zahn. To view and sign the family guest book, please visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

I am so saddened by Tommy's death. I looked forward to my visits with him. He greeted me with a wide smile, always took time to catch up, and was sincerely interested in what was going on in my world. My thoughts and prayers to his family, who I know will miss him dearly.
