Dear Kerner Family

I went to grammar school at St. Alphonsus with Timmy and even in those days, he was one of the nicest people I had ever met. I'm sorry that I lost touch with him. John Rafferty (another classmate) told me about Timmy's death after our 7th gr class picture was posted on facebook. You are in my prayers.

I just found out about Tim's promotion to heaven through our fellow novice and friend Kevin McGuckin. I attended novitiate at Oconomomowc with Tim from 1975-1976. At that time, I was not a fisherman, but enjoyed canoeing ! We had canoe fights on Lac La Belle, first man overboard ! After novitiate, I resumed my seminary studies at the CSsR college of St. Alphonsus in Suffield, CT and Tim headed back to Holy Redeemer College in Waterford. He was happy to serve in the CSsR all these years !

Father Tim, God bless you for the life you lived as a Priest of God and as a Redemptorist. A true Son of St. Alphonsus! I was one of the 6 classmates who had coffee with you each morning during our novitiate. Father Tim, pray for the rest of us of the Class of 76! JMJAT

Now you have direct contact with all the Redemptorist's who have gone on before. I, too, was in Fr Tim's seminary and novitiate class. I remember during novitiate there was a group of maybe 6 guys who would go down for coffee before morning prayer and Tim was right there. We will have Mass's said on your behalf.

Of all the kind people on this earth, Tim Kerner was the kindest. His dedication to his calling, his ability to warm the hardest heart and his gentle manner led many on to better lives.

We will miss you Tim. Say hello to the others who were undoubtedly waiting for you from the sem days.

Tim Kerner was a great guy, and I am shocked to hear about his death. I was at Waterford (seminary) with Tim. We were novices together at Oconomowoc, WI. We professed are vows together in 1976. In novitiate, I remember spending quite a bit of time with Tim fishing. I remember one time we caught enough fish that we cooked it and fed the rest of the novices. At Waterford, Tim was quite instrumental in creating some of the best bonfires I've ever seen. As the years went on I have thaught about those times we had in the seminary and now carry many fond memories of Tim. God bless you Tim!

I can't thank him enough to have taken the time to bless my daughter and her medals when she was going through chemo for breast cancer. I didn't know him personally but was very impressed by his dedication and concern. He did what God wanted him to do on this earth and did it well. It was his time to go back " home ". I'm sure he will be sadly missed by all the hearts he has touched.

It was a privelege to be at Tim's ordination, and we had so much fun when he worked with us as Youth at St. Gerards. Tim was always coming up with pranks to help us pull but always in the spirit of joy. We would be more likely to leave a plate of cookies on the doorstep, ring the bell and run. LOL Fr. Tim was at the hospital when I had two of my children and he took such joy in what was a long journey to get them here. When I was on bedrest for a long period, he visted daily and was always a bright spot in a worrisome day. He worked side-by-side with my parents at St. Gerards and was asked to perform the renewal of the vows at their 50th Anniversary. He touch our lives, in so many ways, that I will always feel blessed that he was a part of them.

Prayers of comfort to his family.

We only had a little while to get to know Father Tim but he had quite an impact on our lives . During hunting season he was all smiles as soon as he got to our house with David. As a visiting priest he was planning on baptizing our 6 week old son Wesley this coming Sunday at Queen of All Saints in Ville Platte. He will be greatly missed.

When Tim found out I had breast cancer he made it a point to come over to pray for me and bless my metals. It touched me so much, but not just me my mother also because she was here at the time. My mom was so moved by him doing this for me that she was in tears and thanked him for taking time to out to do this for us and that was the first time meeting him. David and I love him and will miss him dearly.

To the Kerner family,

Your loss is shared by many.

As a teenager I sat in a pew at Holy Redeemer and witnessed Tim's ordination. We were delighted when he came to St. Gerard's as a young priest and even more pleased that he joined the Broussard family for so many suppers, football games, Nintendo tournaments, etc...

Over the years, Tim became a cherished part of our lives. We played golf in Florida, fished in the gulf (and in the bayous near Lacombe.) He took us to visit a homesick sister in Kansas City and also to visit dear Father Connor in Oconomowoc. He married my husband and I 20 years ago, and, when St. Aloysius was building a new church, he gladly baptized our son at St. Patrick.

He was never too busy for us and his presence and good words at dad's funeral (Veni, Vidi, Vici, eh, Tim) were so important.

So many sacraments we shared, so much of our lives he shared.

We were blessed by this big teddy bear of a man. We will miss him and hold him in our hearts forever.

I had the privilege to know Fr. Tim and to spend many hours with him talking about his faith, his work, his family and his dogs! He was loved by everyone he met and was a truly healing presence at OLOL. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Fr. Tim.

I was so glad to have a friend perform our marriage - and "Timmy John" was the man who was willing to do the job - not once but twice. I'm so glad for the time I had to know him - and know he'll have some good hunting in Heaven!

Tim was a student when I was on the faculty at Holy Redeemer College in Wisconsin. I have fond memories of him, and I am sure he must have touched many people's lives with his kindness. He and all the family remain in my prayers.

I met Tim in 1970 when I started at Holy Redeemer in Lacombe. After the trials of initiation, Tim turned out to be a great person. He loved the outdoors and animals...raising hawks, ducks and other of God's creatures. One year it snowed and we went walking thru the woods with Tim, enjoying the majesty of pine trees covered with snow. One of my favorite moments.

I followed Tim to Waterford, Wisconsin and once had an outing with him and others to a wildlife refuge. Great fun watching the Canadian geese. We also got into trouble for trying to help a sick one...Tim didn't care about the rules...the goose needed help!

Finally, I followed Tim to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and he decided that he would turn over his room, and his duties, to me. He had high expectations for me as he moved on with his profession.

Sadly, I hadn't seen Tim in many years, but followed his progress via the alumni association. God must have needed a good person, priest, and animal caretaker, in heaven. Take good care of heaven Tim. I'll miss you!

I was just organizing a box of photos the other day..getting ready for my son to be born. I found one from my baptism; Timmy was my godfather in addition to being my first cousin. At MaMaa's funeral he spoke about her homeade hot chocolate. I'm sure he's enjoying a cup with her now.

Saturday I received a phone call telling me about Father Tim's death and I was saddened by the news. Unfortunately at this time I am visiting my family in California. I deeply regret that I am not able to return home for his services tomorrow morning. So often he spoke about his Mother and Dad...always with tenderness. Please accept my sincere sympathy and know that each one of the Kerner family will be in my prayers.

I take the privilege to quote Mother Teresa because I saw her kindness in Father Tim as he too "tended the sick, comforted the sorrowing, gave a helping hand to everyone who needed a gentle touch from God." As a Eucharistic Minister volunteer at OLOL, I was asked to be a volunteer in the Pastoral Care Office. Father Tim was always a pleasure to be with...always smiling and happy, even if he was called for an emergency just as he was leaving to go home.

Several times as I walked by his office I saw him sitting in silence looking out of the large window overlooking the lovely courtyard where the birds nested in the trees and the Sago Palms graced the walkway. Yes, as the quote from Mother Teresa says,

"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls."

Indeed, Father Tim knew where to find God when he was a faithful servant here on earth...and now, he need not search for Him any longer. He is with God!

Sincerely,

Sally T. Harp

Father Tim will be missed by me and many others. I always enjoyed when he attended our Rosary group on Monday evenings. He made every effort to drive across town, even when he was on call, and there were times when he had to leave in a hurry to be at the hospital to attend to someone in an emergency. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Father Tim will certainly be missed. I attended masses at Our Lady Of The Lake Hospital Chapel and Saint Francis Chapel for many years. His religious beliefs and pastoral care has been an inspiration to many people who saw how hard he worked to look after the sick. The last sermon that I heard from him he was praising the Franciscans and their work even though he was a Redemptorist Priest. He is certainly in heaven.

Dear Fr. Tim,

You joined our family more than 25 years ago and became another sibling. I would give my right arm to be spending one more evening around the table at the crowded Broussard house on Beech Street cutting up with you and my parents.

Thank you for the joy of your love -- the skeet shoot, the delivering of Labrador puppies at the St. Gerard rectory, the trip to Kansas City with my brother and sisters because I was homesick.

You were there for us always. You married most of us helped us bury little children and Dad. I remember how nervous you were at Dad's funeral because the vicar general was there and a Baptist minister was on the altar to give a homily. You were afraid something would go run. You were actually sweating till after the service.

Take care my wonderful friend. I'm sure you went straight to heaven. Give Dad and Charlie Triche my love.

God bless your family and your wonderful vocation.

What a loss! I only met Father Tim recently at Ollie Burden and I went to his last mass Friday. He always gave me a piece of the Host which means so much to me. I will miss him very much.

To the family: Just a note to let you know how much my husband and I will miss Father Tim. Our faith relationship with him ended much too soon. We recently returned to church after 30 years of being away and looked for a Catholic church that offered closeness and fullfillment. We found it at OLOL Chapel thru Father Tim. We enjoyed his masses and sermons and couldn't wait to see him on those Sunday mornings. We plan to lite a large candle at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans in his memory and will pray for his new journey to be complete, which we are sure it will be . We have shed many, many tears over this news but we do know that he is in good hands!
