Troy Drouant Obituary

Troy Lawrence Drouant passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2023, at the age of 57, after a 6 year long brave and courageous battle with ALS. Troy was born on December 11, 1965 in New Orleans, LA to the late Fred and Laura (Fank) Drouant. Troy was married to Jill Laporte Drouant, the love of his life, for 35 years. He was the loving and very proud father of his two sons, Addison David Drouant (Kayla) and Mason John Drouant (Kaitlyn). He was the adoring grandfather (Daddio) to Owen Mason Drouant. Troy was the loving brother of Dawn Drouant Gumbs (Dofy), Deborah Guastella Nolfe (Nick), and the late David Michael Drouant. He was also a wonderful son-in-law to Mr. and Mrs. John M. Laporte, Jr. (Linda) and brother-in-law to John M. Laporte III (Kelly) and the late Julie Laporte. Troy was the fun loving uncle to Logan (Brooke) and Langley Laporte, Oceana, Garrison, and Gabriel Gumbs, Isabella and Joseph Nolfe and Chloe Lemoine. Troy is well known for his 34 year career spent in the commercial electrical construction industry. After beginning his career working in the warehouse of Barnes Electric, he was later hired on in 1995 at Hi-Tech Electric Inc, where he would grow to eventually become Vice President/Division Manager of the New Orleans office and partner of the company as a whole. He played an impactful role in major restoration jobs throughout the New Orleans area including the Superdome, Saenger Theatre, Xavier University, and Children's Hospital. Troy was actively involved as a parishioner at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where he proudly served as Men's Club President and committee member of the $10,000 Raffle Dance, Mens' Club Golf Tournament, and Crawfish Cook-off. While this disease took Troy's voice, muscles, and the ability to eat and breathe normally, it never took his love for God. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept his strong faith. He is now free from the shackles of ALS. The family sincerely appreciates the extraordinary care and consistent support provided by Dr. Stephen Kantrow, Team Gleason, and Stephanie and Jay Quinlan over the past 6 years. Many thanks as well to Phalon Cornist for his excellent care. The Drouant family would like to say thank you to all their friends and family for their continued prayers and support since Troy's diagnosis in 2017, and respecting their privacy while navigating this journey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, at 12:00 pm, on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, LA 70003. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until Mass time. Father Andrew Rudmann and Father Harry Bugler officiating. Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Gleason Foundation www.teamgleason.org/donate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd., New Orleans. LA 70124. Condolences may be expressed at www.greenwoodfh.com.
