My deepest condolences to the family . I have such fond memories of sitting on telephone books to get my hair done. My mom started goi g to "the hairdresser" in the 1960s and I was right there with her. I spoke with Ms. Velma for her 99th birthday and she still remembered me. Great memories of her and Helen Gatlin just laughing all the time while getting our hair together.

Ms. Velma was my beautician for over 40 years. She was also the "hairdresser" for my mother in law "Mel" Harris and my two daughters. My fondest memory is when she turned 99 and I went to visit her. She said how are your two girls. She had a good memory at 99 years old. She will be missed.
