VALENTINE Vera Mitchell Valentine departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Plaquemine Manor, Plaquemine, LA. Age 102. A resident of New Orleans, LA and a native of Point Pleasant, LA. Wife of the late Arthur W. Valentine. Daughter of the late Thomas Mitchell, Sr. and Nancy Scott Mitchell. Also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two devoted sisters: Hazel M. Sparrow and Albertha M. Thomas both of Plaquemine, LA (Point Pleasent Community); a devoted brother, James A. Mithcell of New Orleans, LA; loving nephew and caregiver, Morris W. Thomas of Santa Ana, California; and three godchildren: Cleveland Francois, New Orleans, LA, Joseph Evans, Pearland, Texas and Kimberly Stewart, Point Pleasent, LA. She was a cherished aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt and great-great-great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, New Orleans, LA. A member and Deaconess of New Zion Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA, Dr. C.S. Gordon, Pastor. She loved reading and being with family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services. Visitation at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, 27800 Hwy. 405, Plaquemine, LA at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 until Religious Services at 7:00 p.m., conducted by Dr. George C. Carter, Sr. Dismissal Services 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the church. Interment in the Church Cemetery.
