TO THE FAMILY OF A WONDERFUL PERSON

VERA WELKER- MY COUSIN, BUT I ALWAYS CALLED HER (AUNT).

I CAN STILL SEE HER STANDING BY THE KITCHEN SINK WITH YOU BARBARA BY HER SIDE CLEANING DISHES WHEN LIVING OFF OF CONSTANCE ST. IT SEEMS THAT SHE WAS ALWAYS BUSY CLEANING , COOKING, OR WORKING IN THE BEAUTIFUL KEPT SIDE YARD. SHE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HER FACE AND I NEVER ACTUALLY SAW HER SITTING DOWN AND TAKING IT EASY....

SHE ASKED ME TO HELP YOU PHILIP WITH YOUR LESSONS AND IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY I THINK SHE PAID ME .50 AN HOUR TO HELP YOU.

YOU DID IMPROVE, HOWEVER , YOU COULD NEVER SIT STILL. I REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS ON THE FLOOR PLAYING WITH MY BLACK DOG INKY. I KIND OF THINK E.J. WAS A LOT LIKE YOU PHILIP.... COULDN'T SIT STILL FOR A MINUTE...

ONCE E.J. AND I MOVED ACROSS THE LAKE TO LACOMBE AND STARTED HAVING THE 4TH. OF JULY PARTIES I CAN STILL SEE AUNT VERA AND GIL HAVING SO MUCH FUN DANCING AND CUTTING UP WITH EVERYONE. AUNT VERA ALWAYS LOOKED SO CUTE THE WAY SHE WOULD DRESS.

IN CLOSING, I WILL SAY SHE MADE MY LIFE ENJOYABLE EVERYTIME I AND E.J. WERE IN HER COMPANY AND OF COURSE YOUR COMPANY, PHILIP , ALSO.

I KNOW SHE IS LOOKING DOWN ON US EVERYDAY, ALONG WITH ALL OF OUR LOVE ONES THAT ARE BLESSED TO BE IN HEAVEN. I PRAY EVERY MORNING TO HER AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY, SAYING ALL OF THEIR NAMES ASKING THEM TO WATCH OVER US AND TO HELP GOD DIRECT OUR LIVES IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

SHE IS A MOM , A SISTER, A GRAND MOTHER, FRIEND, COUSIN, JUST A WONDERFUL PERSON THAT WE WERE ALL LUCKY TO HAVE IN OUR LIVES...

I WILL NEVER FORGET HER.

You will always be in your family's heart. I have learned almost about everything lately in school. I have missed you alot. I have remembered about what I did for you. Little Sarah misses you too. I will always remember you. I wish you could see your ring that grandmother gave me to remember you by. I will love you always.

What a beautiful lady and wonderful person my Nanny is. Nanny had the gift of loving all of us as if we were her "favorite." I know I always felt that way. My earliest memories are of metal rocking chairs on the porch on Jefferson Avenue. My continuing memory will be of the person who I was always happy to see and who loved me for who I am. Nanny was just that way. I will miss stopping by your house and giving you a good excuse to suspend your homekeeping to have a beer with your grandson. You are more than my grandmother, you are one of my best friends. I know it was time and I am grateful you left in peace, but my heart aches. It will be a very long time before I will know someone who lived like you, loved like you and will be missed like you. I love you Nanny.

Dear Mom,

You told me as a child:Louis if you can't do something out of love,

it's better not to do it at all.

These words have given the duties of

my life guidance. Whenever things

have gotten difficult your words

spoken to me about doing things with love have given me courage. I'll miss you, but I know you are

in a better place. I don't know how

you did it, but you nourished our family with your love in both the good and bad times. You had a courageous heart! Love, Louie

Vera:

I have always felt that I was your sixth son. I know that a mother-in-law often has many unflattering things said and written about her. But my mother-in-law "song" is filled with well deserved praise. We always enjoyed a wonderful relationship. You were always kind to me and my children (your beloved grandchildren), and it was my great pleasure to have known you for so many years. I always admired your zest for life and the great love you had for everyone around you. Perhaps the best way I can express how I feel about you is to say that I was given two mothers. Now that you both are gone within seven months of each other my sense of loss is that much greater. I celebrate that you are free of the physical pain and suffering you experienced over the past few years. You gave me your love and the love of five "brothers" and a "sister" with whom I share the grief of life without you. I will never get over losing you, but I will learn to accept that life is fleeting, and we must enjoy each other as much as we can while we can. I love and miss you "mom!"

My sweet Nanny,

I love you and will miss you more than words can ever say.

I am very proud to be your grand-daughter and honored to be your

name sake.

You will live forever in my heart and be the biggest influence of my life.

Until we meet again, may you rest in peace in our loving

Savior's arms.

Mother:

As the mother of 5 beautiful sons I was blessed to be your only daughter. I was the one in a house of men you could relate to in times when a female shoulder was needed to cry on, or when you wanted a sympathetic heart to share your deepest thoughts and concerns with. I cherish the love you always gave me. I will remember our conversations over the years and have always loved the life-lessons you taught me. Though small in size your heart was large enough to include everyone who needed you. I know that life in not the destination it is a journey, and your journey was a long and winding road filled with in some cases the worst but in many instances the best life has to offer. What you did beautifully was share the abundance of love you had within you, never succumbing to depression and negativity. I love you mom, and I will keep you alive in my heart until my journey is through.

My wildest aunt who loves to dance and party in her high heel shoes. I will always remember her. When I was a kid, I loved her high heel shoes and couldn't wait to wear them once I became a teenager. Boy, my feet sure hurt, and didn't wear them very long like Aunt Vera. You will always be in my thoughts and heart. I love you, my little aunt.

You have fought a good fight to the last. You may have been tiny in statue but you had a large heart that was open to everyone. Your one and only baby brother will miss you. So sorry I am unable to be at the service to bid you farewell. God has a spot in heaven for you. I will love and remember you forever.

I will miss Aunt Vera very much and loved her dearly. I have so many wonderful memories of her. I have told close friends of mine how she loved to have a good time. I can still see her dancing at weddings and the Christmas parties we used to have together. She would always lend a helping hand and helped take care of me when I was in the hospital. I will always remember our talks together and how she would make me laugh. It was not only what she said, it was how she said it. FUNNY LADY. She was surely a good time. She was always so sweet to Rachel and I and very loving too. Again, I will miss her dearly and my heart goes out to all of you...my cousins, my family. Love to all, Laura

Dearest Momma,

Throughout your life, you gave us your heart. For such a person small in stature, you always displayed a huge heart in whatever it was you did. Your love for your family, music, flowers and oh your hats came from your heart. Despite your many setbacks, your heart remained strong. In the end, when God called, you gave your heart to him.

You will always remain in the hearts of those that loved you. God Bless You, your loving son, Vic
