Vernon J. Jones, Sr. died on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at his residence in Bertranville, LA of pancreatic cancer. The son of the late Nolan and Enola Jones. Husband of Barbara August Jones. Father of Elaine J. Bell, Angela J. (Rev. David) Gilton, Vernon J. (Denise) Jones, Jr., Angenetta J. (Patrick) Oliver, Joel Toussaint and step-son Stevenson (Shelia) Holmes. The brother of Virgious (Earl) Brown, the late Virgie (Johnny) Johnson, Roland (Geralyn), Raymond (Dorethy), Kermit (Mary), Kenneth Jones. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by both parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. A native and resident of Bertranville, LA. Age 66 years. The Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 11:00 AM from St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Bertrandville, LA. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation from 2:00 to 4:30 PM at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville on Friday, July 2, 2004.
