To the Nelson Family,

I also worked with Virgil at Martin Marietta and then Lockheed Martin. Virgil was always kind, witty and very nice to me. Virgil expressed his knowledge and wisdom of Safety in an easy, understanding way and was always willing to help! I'm truly sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you all.

I had the great pleasure of working with Virgil for a number of years at the NASA, Michoud Assembly Facility. We worked for Martin Marietta at that time, in the Safety Department. Virgil was always a mainstay of knowledge in the Safety profession for all the up and coming crowd and has been missed since retiring a number of years ago. His safety books and materials are still around and used even today in what is now the Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Safety Department. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with Virgil and maintained the utmost respect for him both personnally and professionally. I have missed his company at the Safety Old Timers get together meetings in Slidell, LA. May God keep him close as he has been one of his faithful servants as well. Mary and Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you confort.

Our deepest sympathies to Mary and the girls. Virgil was a great man, with wisdom that he shared. He was a role model to me in many things and will be missed by both Justine and I. I have been honored to have been considered one of his best friends from the time together at the Slidell Computer Center through our stay at LMT @ MAF. We've travelled many similar roads in our adult years in employment and in our religious community @ St.

Margaret Mary Parish.

Mary, daughters & granddaughters

I'm Lorraine Boyd and I just heard of the passing of Virgil. I worked with Virgil at Lockheed Martin at the Michoud Assembly Facility. Virgil was very instrumental in me getting a very good foundation in accident investigation - always giving, never fearing that a "younger person would take his job". He was kind, knowledgeable, very straight-forward and a good Christian. Always talked about his "Mary" and his daughters. I offer my sincere condolences and will say a prayer. I will also pass this information on to several of my retirees from the Safety Department. Once again, my sincere sympathy.
