Vivian Broussard Obituary

Vivian Leah Duvigneaud Broussard, age 89, wife of Lionel Joseph Broussard for 63 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning September 9, 2014 at her home in Gretna, LA. Mrs. Broussard has been a native of New Orleans all her life. Born August 3, 1925 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor Douglas Duvigneaud, she is survived by her husband, Lionel Joseph Broussard, her son Mr. Lance G. Broussard, Sr., (Bernadette), grandsons Lance G. Broussard Jr., and Corey A. Narine. Preceded in death are her brothers: Carl Duvigneaud (Edwina), Melvin Duvigneaud (Alma), and her sisters: Miriam D. Martin (Sidney), Cora Lavigne (Carey), Eugenia Daniels Sr. (Dallas), and Doris Barthe Sr. (Harold). Also survived by the many nieces and nephews, family, friends, and co-workers. Mrs. Broussard is a graduate of Xavier Preparatory High School and Blessed Sacrament Elementary School. She also attended McDonogh #6 Elementary School. After high school, Mrs. Broussard attended the YMCA Business School. She worked for the Port of Embarkation and Joseph A, Craig Elementary School in New Orleans, where she worked as a secretary from 1947 until retirement in 1975. She participated in the Downtowners Social and Pleasure Club. Special Thanks to Felicia Bellaire and Lakeside Hospice Staff for all the loving care bestowed upon her in her final hours of need. A Mass will be said Monday, September 15, 2014 at Corpus Christi- Epiphany Catholic Church located at 2022 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70116. Visitation is from 8 am to 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial promptly at 10 am. All are welcome to attend. Burial will be at Lakelawn Cemetery, New Orleans, Louisiana. Westside Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Vivian Leah Duvigneaud Broussard was a great lady. I knew her from attending Joseph A. Craig School in New Orleans La. I wish to extend to the entire Broussard family my condolences. I know she will be missed.
She love children and always help them to achieve. I know she and Aunt Maude Dedeaux are still teaching in heaven.
