Vivian LeGros Obituary

Vivian "Scotti" Millard LeGros passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Covington, LA at the age of 86. Beloved mother of H Leighton LeGros, Jr., Shannon Magruder, Leslie LeGros-Anderson, Lynne Lawrence, Ashley Trimble, Allison LeGros and Matthew LeGros; mother-in-law of Logan Magruder, Porter Trimble, Michael Anderson and Michelle LeGros, grandmother of Tyler Lawrence, Agustin, Carson and Grayson Magruder, Porter, Audrey and Camille (unfortunately lost at a very early age and dearly missed) Trimble, Payton, Alec and Leighton LeGros, Andre and Cienna Anderson; great grandmother of Ayven Magruder. Vivian was born December 30, 1930 to Earl Millard and Madalene Millard. Vivian served her country in the United States Air Force. She transferred to New Orleans, LA where she married H Leighton LeGros, Sr. and had seven children in rural Covington, LA. Vivian enjoyed acting and was an active participant in Playmakers productions that were a popular attraction and considered part of Covington's original social fiber. She also served as a society columnist for the then once-a-week publication in Covington – "The St. Tammany Farmer". Much of the information she received as the society columnist could not be published, but provided her with a lot of entertaining small town gossip. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and loved to participate in ballroom dancing competitions. Vivian was a lifelong duplicate bridge player and enjoyed playing in tournaments. A large part of her life was spent serving others at the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services where she retired. Her main accomplishment was raising seven loving children. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate her life at Maison Lafitte, 402 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA, 70448 (next to Our Lady of the Lake Church) at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the St. Tammany Parish Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Avenue, Covington, LA. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements. On behalf of Louisiana Women Veterans, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Vivian M. LeGros, U.S. Air Force veteran. We salute her for her service to our country and honor her with this poem:

She is a woman veteran
Whose service was true
She proudly served
The Red, White and Blue

She gave a part of her life
So others could be free
And without any hesitation
She joined unselfishly

She did her job well
With Honor and Pride
And served her great country
With the men alongside

We're proud today to know
That although she is gone
She goes on to glory
After a job "well done!"

And so, "Our Dear Sister"
We salute you today
A special Airman laid to rest
In this quiet solemn way.

I miss you so much mom; even when i caught you cheating at uno. You and I spent so much time together, even as an adult, I chose you over anyone, to spend time with. You were fun and so very interesting and I hope I am JUST LIKE YOU forever!.
