Vivian Singer Obituary

SINGER Vivian Martin Singer passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013. She was born in Metairie on November 14, 1921 and was a lifelong resident of Metairie. She was also a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, where she taught for 32 years in the parish elementary school. For her service to the school she received the Archdiocesan St. Louis Award in 1981. She is survived by her three children, Linda S. Walonen, Gayle S. Sarrat, and Larry Singer, by seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert L. Singer, her parents, Anthony and Catherine Martin, her sister Virginia Martin, her brother Edward A. Martin, and her great-grandson Ben Sarrat, Jr. Mrs. Singer was a member of the Metairie Women's Club and a charter member of the Jefferson Parish Historical Society. She was also a former member and former president of both the Zig and Zag Square Dance Club and the New Orleans Square and Round Dance Association. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to St. Francis Xavier Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. To view and sign the Family Guest Book, go to www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
