Walter J. Schneider Sr.

SCHNEIDER Walter J. Schneider, Sr. Beloved husband and father passed away on Sunday December 4, 2011 after a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Harriet L. Schneider. Father of Walter J. Schneider, Jr. (Peggy) Susan Schneider, Kevin P. Schneider (Karen) and Karen S. Fleming (Bert). Walter was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp who served in the European theatre during WWII. He was the former owner of Schneider Lawn Supply until he retired and then worked at Carrollton Lumber until his second retirement. He was predeceased by his parents Michael L. Schneider and Louise K. Schneider, his sisters Anna and Louise and his brother Michel. He is survived by his grandchildren Jamie Schneider (Heather), Keely Schneider, Sean and Ian Fleming, Alan and Daniel Schneider and great granddaughter Vada Schneider. Also survived by his special friend Fay Bertone. His pleasure was working on his '64 Volkswagen that he patiently restored, tending to his fruit trees and playing with his kitten Prissy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 until service time. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.
