Wilfred Guy Obituary

Mr. Wilfred Guy, Sr., aka 'Jr Boy', 'Big Scooter', a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and teacher, departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 12:15 pm. 'Big Scooter' was born on May 14, 1946 to the late Buddy and Eva P. Guy in New Orleans, LA. He was baptized at the age of 9, but his life and spiritual journey led him to the Muslim faith. He had many travels, but he always found his way back. His connection to his home and the 7th ward community is one that is unparalleled. You will always hear him regarded as a 'Real One', a true legend. In addition to his parents, Wilfred is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul Falls and Laura Anderson Predounce; wife, Rose Guy; grandchildren, Kevdrika Williams, Dan Walter, Kerry, Tariq Shannon; aunt, Lorraine Taylor; siblings, Jackie Leban, Sheila Joseph, Ronald Guy, Wendel Guy, Sr. and Goddaughter, Shelanda 'Shony' Williams. He leaves behind a great legacy of five sons and two daughters, Wilfred "Papa" Guy Jr., Kevin 'Lil Scooter' Anderson, Terrence 'TBell' Andrews, Abdul 'Du' Harris (Taneka Harris), Terrence 'Tee' Guy and Damon 'Woody' Green, Sr. (Janell Wilson); Eva Laura Guy-Reed (Terrell Reed Sr) and Icesiss Ishamenia Guy-Glapion (Felton Glapion), along with his life companion, Gaynell Green; siblings, Lois B. Williams, twin sister, Wilberine Guy, Donald Guy, Sr., Glenn Guy, Wanda Guy, Gregory Guy, Sr. and Yulanda Guy-Williams; twenty one grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. Wilfred Guy, Sr., will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116 on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10 am. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 9 am in the chapel. Traditional Jazz funeral. Repast Treme Hideaway. Due to Covid variants, face masks and social distancing strongly encouraged.
