In addition to his long and distinguished career of 50+ years practicing and teaching medicine, he also served as Clinical Professor of the LSU School of Medicine (43 years) and the Tulane School of Medicine (25 years) He said his favorite season was Fall because "here in Louisiana the weather is moderate and it allowed me to be in the outdoors, which I loved, and to enjoy hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities". He said, "My children and my wife were the greatest gifts I ever received. They were the best because they shaped my life and they came to me from God". There will be a Requiem Mass officiated by Father Mark Beard at St. Joseph Abbey located at 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict, Louisiana on Thursday January 12th, 2023. Dr. Ferrante trained so many of the GI physicians in the state of Louisiana, including myself. We are forever in his debt and he will be greatly missed. His wisdom, humor and honesty will always stay with me and has guided me in my medical practice. Judy and family thank you for sharing Bill with us.

Dr Ferrante was a great man and a phenomenal physician . He trained myself and many of the gastroenterologists in Louisiana. I enjoyed spending time with him and loved to talk about LSU football with him. May God bless his soul and his family.

What a great man, I had the privilege of training under Dr. Ferrante and Dr. Balart as a Gastroenterologist . It was a pleasure to work with Bill. Very old school but fair as he was quick to let you know when you did something wrong, but was kind to praise you when you did something right. I enjoyed his mentoring and his friendship .
Once again, a great man that will be sorely missed .

I have frequently remembered your husband -father-grandfather as a great friend to my own father and a really fun man to share a duck blind with. Always looked forward to being around him in the fall and winter. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

My heartfelt condolences to Judy and his loved ones. He was truly a great person and physician and he will be sorely missed in the medical community. His contribution to the practice of gastroenterology could never be exaggerated. He has set a very high standard for academic and clinical practice and he has inspired and enriched the development of many fellows and physicians. I have been so fortunate to be a friend and partner. His influence in heaven will be felt! Rest in peace and thank you!
