Found all this fascinating, as a McLaney myself but from England. My granddad was called William "Bill" McLaney. Not many of us with the same last name.
RIP to William J. McLaney, condolences from across the pond

Bill was my fathers friend for many a years. He was uncle bill to me while I worked with him in Vegas! He had many stories of the fun days he had, especially during the World Series !

I think of him often!

The Mickey McLaney Family in Miami fondly remembers Uncle Bill while in Haiti. I spoke with Magee on New Year's Eve night and said that Bill had a good and interesting life, and hoped that he and my father would be toasting in the New Year with a Scotch and water! Kevin, Michael, Kerry and all the Garrigans join me in sending our condolences to Magee and Patrick on this sad occasion. May he rest in peace!

I always admired and respected Bill McLaney who was my uncle by marriage to my Aunt McGee. Visiting them in New Orleans during school summer vacations in my youth is one of my most pleasant memories. I'm sure he is delighting everyone he meets in heaven with his endearing personality. May God bless his soul and grant him eternal peace.
