Willie Edward Winfield

Willie Edward Winfield was born to the late Lawrence and Nettie Norman Winfield in Gloster, Ms. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the age of 83, surrounded by his beloved children. He attended Amite County Training School in Gloster, Ms. Willie confessed Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Sharon CME Church in Gloster. In later years he united with the Guiding Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.R. Washington Sr. Willie worked for Bohn Ford Dealership as an auto mechanic and New Orleans Private Patrol Security Services for many years until his retirement. After serving four years in the United Stated Army he moved to New Orleans where he met his wife Mary Tyler. To this union seven children were born Lois Winfield-Hawkins, Jeanette Winfield-McGee, Willie J. Winfield, Carolyn Winfield-Bailey, Joyce Winfield-Hughes, Keith Winfield and the Late Lawrence Edward Winfield. He became step-father to six children Annie Tyler, Dorothy Alexis, Michael Dorsey and the late Barbara Dorsey, Willie Walls and Jonas Tyler. He was proceeded in death by his devoted wife Mary, his parents, his son Lawrence, step-sons Willie and Jonas, step-daughter Barbara Ann, brothers Curtis, Sr., Odis and Richard Winfield, sisters Sadie and Ceola Winfield, grandson Keith Winfield, Jr. & great-grandson Elijah Bentley. He leaves to cherish his memory, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister -in- law Thelma Winfield, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and Friends of the Family, also Pastors, Officers and Members of New Hope B.C., Guilding Light M.B.C. and all neighboring churches are all invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at New Hope B.C. 1807 LaSalle St. at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am. Rev. Jamal Weathersby, Pastor Officiating. Interment in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Rd. Slidell, Louisiana.
