Willmon "Billy" Bastian

1947 - 2023

Willmon (Billy) Bastian was born to the late Paul and Beatrice Clay Bastian on July 1, 1947. He was the 3rd child and the 2nd son among 5 children. A lifetime resident of New Orleans, he was educated in New Orleans public schools before becoming a welder by trade for years. Willmon, beloved husband of Emma M. Bastian for 48 years, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2023, at the age of 75 after a long battle with cancer. He was a man of few words but somehow had the ability to make a lasting impression on all who met him. He enjoyed watching Saints football and was well known for his expert pool playing as well as his proficient mastery of spades. In addition to his wife Emma and daughter Dr. LaKisha S. Bastian, he is survived by 3 siblings, Carolyn B.Magee (Robert), Debra B. Pounds (Mack), and Ronald Bastian; 1 aunt Madeline Clay Dixon; two sisters-in-law, Irma McMillon, Landria (Graelin) Stepter; 4 brothers-in- law Lloyd McMillon, Gerald McMillon, Robert Magee Sr., Mack Pounds, and Graelin Stepter Sr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Michelle Bastian, and his brother Vernon Bastian. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service, Saturday, January 28, 2023, for 1:00 p.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Fred Luter, Jr., officiating. Interment is private. Due to Covid-19, it is optional to wear a face mask.
