Yvonne Shorty Mitchell departed this life on Friday, December 31, 2021. She was young at heart and always the life of the party. Always living her best life. Yvonne was the 2nd of 10 children born to the late Thomas "Papa" Shorty and Amelia Ainey Shorty and the wife of the late Paul Timothy Mitchell, Jr. She was from Convent, Louisiana and lived most of her adult life in New Orleans. She retired from Sears Department Store and Compass Furniture and was very proud of her career in sales. Yvonne was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She celebrated life to the fullest with her family and friends and was a die-hard Saints fan. She was outgoing, outspoken, and exuded laughter and joy wherever she went with class and style. Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory her three sons-Paul T. (Carmen) Mitchell, III, Gerald T. Mitchell and Gregory T. (Ashika) Mitchell, her grandchildren who were her pride and joy-Brittany, Gabrielle & Paula Mitchell, Gerald & Ronnie Mitchell, Jordan & K'Lynn Mitchell along with her great grandsons Marcus & Kory Mitchell. She is also survived by her five sisters-Shirley Joseph, Ruby Jefferson, Leona Felton, Melba Shorty, and Mildred Shorty and her two brothers-James Shorty and Earl Shorty. She is also survived by her aunt Victoria Adams, and a host of loving nieces and nephews and their families. Yvonne is preceded in death by two sisters-Rozelia Joseph and Ester Monette. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend her celebration of life at DW Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans LA on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1:00pm.
