My condolences to Mike and his family. My dad and got to "share" a few rounds of golf with your dad when I was young. Also got to share lots of stories eating doughnuts in the Doctor´s lounge at Mercy when I was a med student. Great man. Great doctor.

I grew up in Neola and cannot say I remember exactly when it was that Dr. Romano began his practice there.
What I do vividly remember is a caring, healing, uber-competent physician whom everyone loved.
The good doctor was `still in the saddle´ after I grew up, was married and had kids of my own.
My two little tykes loved him as well and knew him by name, often asking for him when they were ailing by saying they wanted to go see "Doctor `mano."
One of his colleagues posting above probably encapsulated it best by stating, and I paraphrase, "He received his `Angel Wings´ long ago."

I am so saddened by the loss of your father. He was a kind and gentle man who devoted his life to not only his family, but also his patients and his community. He will be missed.

I counted Dr. Tony Romano as a real friend on the Medical Staff at Mercy Hospital. He was the first physician to welcome me and treat me as a colleague. He was a gifted physician and loved by his patients and the nursing staff. Dr. Romano was a kind and respectful man. He got his angel wings years ago!
