Douglas P. Kunze, age 76, of Persia, Iowa, passed away August 15, 2023 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Doug was born December 20, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Clarence and Mary (Pierce) Kunze. He graduated from Oakland, Iowa High School in 1965, Westmar College in 1969 and furthered his education at Northwest Missouri State University in 1970. Doug married Glenda Tolle on June 13, 1970 in Oakland. They were blessed with two sons, Chad and Kyle. Doug was a long-time Persia farmer (High Hope Farm) from 1972 until present. He loved woodworking; KC Chiefs Football; NASCAR and attending all of his sons and grandsons events. Doug was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Kunze of Persia; sons, Chad and Ashlee Kunze of Honey Creek, Iowa, Kyle and Kari Kunze of Persia; grandsons, Carter, Nolan and Blake; sister, Carole (Bobby) Bane of Oakland, Iowa; sister-in-law, Vicki (Jim) Condon of Omaha; one niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation with the family, Sunday, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church, 11 So. First St. in Council Bluffs. A lunch will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, Oakland, Iowa. The family will direct memorial contributions.
