Edward Frank Hornbeck, age 88, passed away July 14, 2021. He was born to the late Emmett and Lelia (Stallings) Hornbeck in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky on June 12, 1933. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On February 15, 1957, Ed was united in marriage to Barbara Blankenship, at the Lutheran Church in Logan, Iowa. He retired from Meadow Gold Dairy and worked at Echo. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond; three sisters, Ruth, Mary Katherine, Lottie and their spouses; and great-grandson, Easton Lane. Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara Hornbeck of Council Bluffs; daughters, Ronda (Jeff) Thomas and Denise (Mitch) Lane of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jesse) Smith, Cody (Janna) Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Korey (Amanda) Lane, Kylie (Weston) Olsen, and Kelly Lane; ten great-grandchildren, Nicole and Lucas Smith, Shaely Thomas, Isaac Gourd, Brinley, Hadley, Oakley, Knoxley Lane, Cohen and Levi Olsen; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Visitation is at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday July 19, 2021. Funeral service is at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 239 Frank Street in Council Bluffs. Interment with military honors will be Tuesday afternoon in the Magnolia, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
