It is with deep sadness that the family of Elisa Smith announces her unexpected passing on February 8th, 2023, at the age of 49.

Elisa was born and raised in Council Bluffs. She was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa and a loyal Hawkeye fan. When she wasn't spending time with her daughters she was buzzing around spreading love and encouragement amongst loved ones and strangers. She was a devoted wife, mother and dog mom. An aspiring baker, a terrible car karaoke singer and the ultimate party planner. She was an inspiration to those who were blessed to know her and will be missed more than words can express.

Elisa was preceded in death by her mother, Diana Kellar, whom she will warmly embrace as they meet again.

Elisa will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jonas Smith; and her daughters, Isabella Smith and Natalie Smith. She is also survived by her father, Charles Benson; stepmother, Janet Benson; her sisters, Shawna Dunn, Nichole Doran, Danielle Benson and Carrie Benson; as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melinda Smith and Jeremy Smith. Elisa will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, who she treated as her own children; and her friends, who were more like family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, 1 p.m., at the Broadway United Methodist Church, 11 S 1st St., Council Bluffs IA 51503.
