John Viola Obituary

John R. Viola, age 94, of Council Bluffs, died May 25, 2022 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. John was born October 4, 1927 in Council Bluffs to the late Ercole and Lida (Ombruni) Viola. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1945 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John married Norma J. "Billie" Storrs on May 24, 1950. They were blessed with four children, John, Robert, Carol, and Albert. John was a pressman for the Omaha World-Herald for 40 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; World-Herald Pressmen Union; World-Herald Beyond 62 Retirees; South Omaha Eagles Club; American Legion Post #2; P.O.L.K. of A. and Birthday Club. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Viola on October 12, 2021; son, Robert Viola on May 23, 2021; brothers, Ralph, Albert and Emil Viola. John is survived by his children, John (Colleen) Viola of Ft. Worth, Texas, Carol (John) Zimmerman, Albert Viola; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Heitman-Viola all of Council Bluffs; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews. Funeral service, Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites tendered by the American Legion Post #2. Family receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

Sorry to read of John´s death. The blessing of having him in your life for so many years can leave a big hole to be filled. May memories of him, of his example and his faith guide you forward, I will offer a Mass in his memory and keep you all in my prayers
