Lloyd Burke Obituary

Lloyd Edward Burke Jr., age 77 of Council Bluffs, passed away at his home on Sunday June 19, 2022. Lloyd was born October 21, 1944, in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Lloyd E. Burke Sr. and Helen (Ring) Burke. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1964. While still in high school, Lloyd began working at the Omaha World-Herald as a pressman, a position he held until his retirement. Lloyd served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service, being active in The Forty and Eight and the American Legion. Lloyd was generous with his time and talents, volunteering for many clubs and organizations. He had a passion for classic cars, restoring a large collection of antique cars and participating in classic car clubs. He also loved animals, always keeping dog treats in his car and pockets. Family dogs eagerly anticipated his arrival at gatherings. Lloyd was a devoted son, caring for his mother for many years, a good friend, and a beloved family member. He was always ready to lend a hand, get together, or enjoy a meal. He will be greatly missed. Vigil service and visitation will be held from 2 to 4pm on Sunday, June 26th at Cutler-O'Neill Funeral Home, 545 Willow Ave. Council Bluffs, IA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Neola, IA with burial to follow at St. Patrick's cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Patrick's Social Hall. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion in Neola or to the Council Bluffs Optimist Club.

I will always remember you and your generous ways. The moving trips to Wayne NE. we made with Jennifer getting her to College and then moving her back home at the end of the year. All the memories of our ventures we did together. You were one of a kind Lloyd. You will be missed.
