Marianne Knotek

Marianne Knotek, age 85, of Council Bluffs, passed away June 8, 2023, at The Heritage at Fox Run. Marianne was born September 3, 1937, in Council Bluffs, to the late James L. "Lee" and Ethel (Petersen) Van Scoy, Sr. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1955. Marianne married Larry Knotek on August 24, 1957, in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with six children. Marianne was a legal secretary and was the co-founder and executive director for the Micah House from 1986-1996. She was a member of Corpus Christi-Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and the Sweet Adeline's. In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her sons, KC and Michael Knotek; granddaughters, Rebecca and Melissa Knotek; siblings, Don and Jim Van Scoy, Katie Gallagher Walsh; and aunt, Margaret Petersen. Marianne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Larry Knotek; daughters, Cathy (Kim) Cline, Elizabeth Knotek, all of Council Bluffs; sons, Mark Knotek, of Omaha, Neb., Dan (Chris) Knotek, of Council Bluffs; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Stella Knotek and Lori Knotek, both of Omaha; son-in-law, Gary Vander Meulen, of Council Bluffs; sister, Pat Bates, of Council Bluffs; brother, Dennis (Debbie) Van Scoy, of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews. Wake service, Friday, June 16, 2023, at 5 p.m., followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi-Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3304 4th Ave., Council Bluffs. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, with a lunch following at the parish hall. Memorial contributions may be offered to the Micah House, 1415 Ave. J, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.
