Max L. Henderson, age 90, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 18, 2021 at his home. Max was born May 16, 1931 in Council Bluffs to the late Grover and Dora (Hedrick) Henderson. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne. Max married Dorothy Poole on January 23, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were blessed with five children. Max worked for the railroad for 9 years and was a self-employed carpenter. He was an active member of COBIA Masonic Lodge #631 and Eastern Star. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Chauche; son, Gary Henderson; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Max is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Henderson; daughters, Janine (Doug Rockwell) Henderson, Teresa (Trent) Cozad all of Council Bluffs; son, Russell (Chris Kalcic) Henderson of Omaha; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Art Henderson of Council Bluffs, Wayne (Ruth) Henderson of Greenfield, Iowa; sister, Phyllis Danburg of St. George, Utah; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation with the family, Friday, 3 to 4 p.m., with a Masonic Service beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. A dinner will follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. Memorial contributions are suggested to Asera Care Hospice.
