Patricia Ann Van Soelen

Patricia Ann Van Soelen, age 85, of Council Bluffs, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16, 2025. Patricia (Pat) was born July 9, 1940, in Little Sioux, IA to the late Thomas R. and Janyce (Perry) Carritt. She graduated from Iowa School for the Deaf in 1959. Pat married Donald L. Van Soelen on April 3, 1960, in Council Bluffs. They were blessed with five children. Pat was a member of Community of Christ Church, CB Silent Club, Omaha Association of the Deaf Senior Citizens, and the Iowa Association of the Deaf. Pat retired from Iowa School for the Deaf in 2002 after many years of service. The number of lives she influenced, not only while working at ISD but those children she provided childcare services to are too numerous to count. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 2023; son-in-law, Al Stueve, and brother-in-law, George Glasier. Pat is survived by her children, Pam (Kirk) Parsons of Persia, IA, Paula Stueve, Dave Van Soelen both of Logan, IA, Peg (Nick) Moore, Tom (Michelle) Van Soelen all of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Seth (Michelle) Parsons, Colin Parsons, Derek (Brooke) Parsons, Aaron (Paige) Parsons, Jacob (Ally) Stueve, Rachel (Brady) Wilson, Joshua Stueve, Nick Van Soelen, Will (Lauren) Van Soelen, Ben Van Soelen, Caleb Moore, Hannah Moore, Kailyn (Alex) Kennett, Audrey Van Soelen, Olivia Van Soelen; great grandchildren, JJ Sondag, Daniel Sondag, Eva Parsons, Reese Parsons, Wyatt Parsons, Raylyn Parsons, Taylor Stueve, and Parker Kennett; sister, Sally Glasier of Mill Bay, Canada; nieces, nephews and a host of friends who were like her extended family.

Visitation with the family, Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Community of Christ Church, 140 W. Kanesville Blvd. A lunch will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment, Friday, 2:30 p.m. in the Little Sioux, IA Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Community of Christ Church or Iowa School for the Deaf.
