Hampton - Eugene E. "Gene" Kimmes, age 83 of Hampton, died peacefully at The Pillars
hospice in Oakdale on Monday morning, December 8, 2025.
Eugene Ernest, the son of Arthur and Dolores (May) Kimmes, was born on December 3, 1942, in Red Wing. Following his education, Gene was united in marriage to Judith H. "Judy" Siebenaler on April 11, 1964 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. They were blessed with four children and many memories over their fifty-eight year marriage prior to her passing on October 1, 2022. Gene was a life-long farmer and seed salesman in the Hampton, New Trier, and surrounding areas. He was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier where he served in many capacities over the years.
Whether it was euchre, cribbage, or black jack, Gene never missed the chance to play a good game of cards. Gene's love for the outdoors allowed him to enjoy fishing on Mille Lacs, eating his homemade scalloped potatoes and ham in the fish house, hunting, gardening and tending to his raspberries. There shouldn't be a person in the area that hasn't received a gift of produce as it was always a top priority for him! His love for farming ran deep, and his meticulous approach always ensured straight lines and clean fields. Gene was a diehard sports fan, especially for any and all Minnesota sports. He was sure to keep up on reading the newspapers, countless local farming magazines, and a hunting magazine. Gene had an extra sweet tooth and cherished the chance to enjoy a good sundae. He was a man that still valued dressing for the occasion, and will be remembered for showing up to lend a hand in any way that he could.
Throughout life, Gene always had pride in his daughters and built their foundation on the important values and qualities in life. He loved his grandkids, and enjoyed the chance to watch them participate in 4-H, sporting events, art shows, and various swine and dairy cattle shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Lucille Siebenaler; sister-in-law, Judy Kimmes; brothers-in-law, Curtis Rauvola, Ronnie Siebenaler and Ronnie Frandrup; nephew, Eric Rauvola; and by his special aunt and uncle, Rose and Alois Doffing
Gene is survived by his daughters, Sandy Kimmes (Greg Kneser), Cherie (Bernie) Frandrup, Gretchen Kimmes (Les Thompson) and Charlee Kimmes (Dayton Benson); grandchildren, Amelia (Taylor) Dillard, Wylie Kimmes Kneser, Jacob Frandrup, Sally (Jake) Borst, Hally Frandrup, and Taryn Serres-Benson; great grandchild, Axel Dillard; siblings, Kenneth Kimmes and Donna Frandrup; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Private family interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and to a reception immediately following the service at church on Saturday. There will not be a visitation at church on Saturday.
Gene's family would like to extend a special thank you to Rocky Peine for your dedicated friendship you have shown over the years. Your care and commitment to always being there for our dad has not gone unnoticed and was always greatly appreciated by our family.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Gene's memory, the family asks that memorial gifts be directed to them, to be used toward a future charitable donation in his name.
