Josephine "Jody" Alsaker

1943 - 2025

Northfield - Josephine Thelma "Jody" (Langfald) Alsaker was born on a farm near Lake Mills, lowa, on June 1, 1943, to Tom and Jessie (Smith) Langfald, where she lived until 2nd grade when the family moved into Lake Mills. In 1961 she graduated from Lake Mills High School.

While working in Minneapolis after high school, she met the love of her life, John Alsaker, a fellow Norwegian. They were married on July 1, 1967, at Center Lutheran Church, a church her dad helped build. The couple moved to Northfield, Minnesota, and John worked as a baker for St. Olaf College until retirement. Their son Aaron was born on December 3,1969.

Jody enjoyed gardening at their country home outside of Northfield and walking in the woods across the road with her beloved John, observing the wildlife. She worked at the local hospital in Northfield as a unit secretary for 34 years before retiring in 2001. She and John so enjoyed each other's company and rarely spent a day or night apart in the 58 years they were married.

Jody is preceded in death by her father Tom, mother Jessie, and sister Evelyn Smith. She is survived by her husband John; her dear son Aaron and his wife Summer of Marshall; three grandchildren Landon Alsaker of Marshall, Jeremy Alsaker of Northfield, and Lauren Alsaker of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 sisters Ethel Drake of Hamel, Minnesota, Gloria Spencer of Hudson, Michigan, Shirley Wilson of Mesquite, Nevada: other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered for her kind nature, her sweet smile and joyous laughter and her efforts to cheer up those around her. She went to meet her friend Jesus on December 3, 2025.

A funeral service is being planned for the Spring of 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield. Interment will be in Lake Mills.
