Alexander VACCARO Obituary

VACCARO
Alexander R., of River Vale, NJ. Born on April 2, 1929, in Scarsdale, NY, to Alexander and Elvira Vaccaro, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his home.
Beloved husband of Susanne F. Vaccaro (nee Schmitz) and father of Susan, Alexander and his wife Lauren, Richard and his wife Michelle, and Andrew and his wife Christine. He was predeceased by his daughters Anne and Catherine. Loving grandfather to Max, Alex, Juliana, Sara, Marielle, Luke and Drew.
Alex was active in River Vale for many years as a Baseball Coach and Cub Scout Master. His favorite activities were travelling the world and spending time with his family on Long Beach Island. He served in the Army before heading off to the University of Pennsylvania, and then onto a long career at IBM.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ, on Monday, March 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Alex's life will be held at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, 50 Pascack Road, Park Ridge, NJ on Tuesday, March 11th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, in Airmont, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alex's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
