Anthony William "Tony" MCDERMOTT

MC DERMOTT Anthony "Tony" William, 64, of Ridgefield Park, NJ passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009. Born in Paterson, NJ, he resided in Fair Lawn before moving to Ridgefield Park. In 1968, he received a Bachelor's degree in education from Seton Hall University in South Orange and in 2004 earned a Master's degree in teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. Tony enjoyed spending time with family, visits to the Jersey shore, playing Scrabble and will be remembered as a tugboat enthusiast.Prior to retiring, he was an English as a second language teacher with Bergen Community College in Paramus and previously was an insurance associate with American Mutual in Clark, NJ from 1969 to 1989.Loving and devoted father of Anthony Joseph McDermott, Kathleen Walter and Patricia McDermott-Petersen. Cherished grandfather of Mac, Sydney, Jean, Alexandra, Casey, Kelsea, Riley and Grady. Dear brother of Robert McDermott, Terry D'Aurizo, Marcia Petersson and Elizabeth Meenan.A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 11 AM at Vander Plaat Colonial Home, Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500.
