Arthur Winter Obituary
Winter's son, Grant, says he died at home in Short Hills after a brief illness. Rich Growney of Funeral Services of New Jersey says the doctor died Wednesday.
His son says Winter was among the state's first specialists in neurosurgery. He also was a pioneer in transcutaneous nerve stimulation, a pain treatment that uses electric current to stimulate nerves.
Winter was born in Newark and served as a medic during World War II. He earned his medical degree from the University of Montreal. He spent much of his career in practice at hospitals in New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, a science writer; a daughter, two sons and three grandchildren.
The family says services will be private.

Totally shocked and saddened by the passing of Dr. Arthur Winter whom I had the pleasure of meeting as a caregiver to one of his relatives. My sincere condolences to his beloved wife Ruth/family and may God grant them the serenity to accept what they can't change.
