David Ballingall

David K., 79, formerly of Upper Saddle River, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2015 at home. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in Weehawken and resided in Ridgefield and Upper Saddle River before moving to Manchester Twp. in 2003. David served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. David was a successful businessman, owning and operating multiple businesses throughout his life. Many in USR will remember him behind the coffee counter as a co-owner of Elmer's Country Store from 1981-1994. He was a longtime member of the Saddle River Valley Lions Club, Restored Rusty Relics Antique Auto Club and Buick Auto Club of America. David was predeceased by parents Francis & Annie Ballingall; brother Francis Ballingall; niece Lynne Rybinski. David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Joan A. Ballingall; son David D. Ballingall and wife Lori Ann of Colts Neck; daughters JoAnn Strack and husband Bob of Greensboro, NC; Carol Ballingall of Mahwah; brother Robert Ballingall and wife Alice of SC; sisters-in-law Gail Tanno of Park Ridge, Joan Ballingall of GA.; five grandchildren Claire, Trevor, Parker, Sage and Jessie; and many nieces, nephews and good friends that loved him very much. A luncheon to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends on Saturday Jan. 24 from 1-4 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, 96 E. Allendale Ave., Saddle River.
