Edward Orovitz Obituary

OROVITZ
Edward C., born February 19, 1938 to Charles S. Orovitz and Caroline Orovitz, died on September 8, 2013.
He grew up in Garfield, Passaic and Clifton, NJ. He graduated from Pope Pius High School 1956, and was offered a contract to join the Milwaukee Braves Baseball organization as a pitcher, but took a year off to work, then went on to Seton Hall (Paterson) on a full Basketball Scholarship. He later graduated in 1961 with a BA in Business Administration, maintaining strait A's throughout, and never missed a class.
He taught at St. Johns (Paterson) for a year, then Don Bosco (Ramsey) for two years, then taught at Waldwick High School until his retirement in 1996, never missing a day of teaching. During his time teaching at Waldwick High School, he was President of the local Teachers' Association for 10 years. He resided in Ridgewood for over 50 years. Upon his retirement, he loved to spend time on his front porch and with his family.
Mr. Edward C. Orovitz was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always thought of others before himself. His love of learning and teaching was and is an inspiration to all who knew him. His loss is a devastating tragedy to his wife and family, who could not help but love him unconditionally.
Survived by his beloved wife Ann of 51 years, daughter Jill Pitts and grandchild Zachary Pitts, son Stephen Orovitz, his wife Francine Orovitz and grandchild Joseph Orovitz, and brother Charles J. Orovitz and his wife Barbara.

My deepest sympathies to the Orovitz family. Mr. Orovitz was my driver Ed. Teacher and what a great guy he was! I have thought of him often over the years, and wondered how he was. Very few teachers like hiim.

I was sorry to learn of the passing of my 1961 Seton Hall, Paterson classmate. He certainly took his degree and made a successful and productive life for himself impacting the lives of his many grateful students. May his family be blessed with the assurance that he has eternal life through Christ and that they will also.
