George Forst

George A., 83, of Pompton Plains, formerly a longtime resident of Rutherford, died Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born in Queens, NY, George was the son of Alex and Stephanie Forst. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Returning home, he married Anne Clements in 1957, and together the couple raised four sons together in Rutherford. Following Anne's death in 2005, George moved to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains. There, he was involved with the Amblers & Scrambler's (the community hiking group), bartended at Happy Hour, and was often helping his neighbors by driving them to appointments or helping them with their chores. While raising his family, George worked as a machinist, employed by Almike Metal Products in Moonachie for many years before retiring. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Rutherford, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. George is lovingly survived by his sons, Tim and his wife Cheryl, George and his wife Jenny, Chris and his wife Lisa, and Matthew and his wife Shavoni; and his grandchildren, Jessica Magazzu and her husband Andrew, Melissa, Kelly, Chris, Allison, and Matthew Forst. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne, and his brother, Alex. Funeral services are pending. Please contact the M.
