H. Barton Winship

WINSHIP H. Barton, age 87 of Bernards Township, Basking Ridge died Monday July 21, 2008 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born in Newark, N.J. and has been a resident of Basking Ridge the past 8 years formerly of Millington, NJ and had been a resident of Ridgewood for 34 years. Mr Winship was a Licensed Practioner of Mortuary Science having worked for C.C. Van Emburg Funeral Home in Ridgewood for 34 years and prior employment was at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield and Meyer Lundquist Funeral Homes in Montclair. A graduate of Bloomfield High School and graduate of New York School of Embalming and Restorative Art in New York City and started his 54 year career in Funeral Service with the Sayre Funeral Service in Newark, N.J. A Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Medical Corps. He was a Certified Funeral Service Practioner (CFSP) Attended Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 year member of the Bergenfield & Ridgewood Lions Club. A member Emeritus of the Bergen County Funeral Director Association and a former member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association. He was the husband of 61 years to the late Naomi Winship who died in 2006. He is survived by his daughter and her husband Faith and Paul Duffy of Basking Ridge and a son and his wife Dean A. and Carol Winship of Lan O Lakes, Florida. grandfather of Lauren and Ryan Duffy of Basking Ridge. The Service will be held on Thursday July 24, 2008 at 9 AM in the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge. Cremation will be private. Relatives and Friends may visit at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
