John Bailey Obituary

John R. Bailey, 74, of Montclair passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10 after a protracted battle with heart disease and strokes.

He was a native of Glen Ridge and lived in the area most of his life. After graduating from Glen Ridge High School, he went on to Cornell University and Upsala College, obtained his JD from Harvard Law School in 1963. He practiced Corporate, Appellate, Real Estate and Tax law in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He began his career at Dewey Ballantine and was accepted to argue in front of the Appellate Court of New York and the Supreme Court. Later in his career, he was a member of the New Jersey Bar and worked for many years with Shane, Shaffer and Rafanello and ended his career in private practice.

He is survived by his son, David L. Bailey of Seattle, Wash.; his daughter Laura Bailey Brown, her husband David R. Brown and his granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Brown, all of Leesburg, Va.; his sister, Pat Armand of Bloomfield and nephews Benoit Armand of Bloomfield and Jacques Armand of Boulder, Colo.

The family is holding services privately.

After many years of not keeping touch thought we'd try.....sadly to find out that John has passed away. Fred and John had many great times together thru Glen Ridge schools, sports car rallying, godfather of our son Fred III. Sorry to find out this way but happy memories and our condolences to all. Bunny & Fred
