North Haledon - DeKorte, John Henry, 87, of North Haledon passed away unexpectedly and went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born in Glen Rock on May 11, 1934 to Henry and Matilda (nee Pruiksma) DeKorte. John worked for Stokes Dairy, retired as Maintenance Supervisor for the Holland Christian Home and most recently used his talent for fixing anything at Tanis Hardware. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. John was a member of Hawthorne Gospel Church. He also served his community as a North Haledon Volunteer fireman for over 50 years. John sang in many choirs and has now joined the heavenly choir.
John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anita DeKorte (nee Van Beveren)
Adored Father of James DeKorte and his wife Maryann of Hawthorne and Jeanne Veenstra and her husband Gary of North Haledon.
Cherished Pop Pop to Nicole and her husband Joshua, Vanessa and her Fiancé Andrew, Jonathan, Samuel, Jacob, Michael, and David.
Also survived by his sister Ruth Platenberg and niece Maryann Stuessi.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00PM on Saturday at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
Memorial Service to be held on Monday at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be held private
