John McCormack Obituary

John H. McCormack, 92, of Bloomfield, formerly of Montclair, died on Tuesday, July 3, in his home.

Born and raised in Montclair, Mr. McCormack graduated from the Montclair school system in 1937. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. In the European Theater, he was in charge of a 105 Howitzer with "B" Battery in the 872nd Artillery. He was a lifetime member of the Pavlick-Koster V.F.W. Post 2640 in Wallington.

A warehouse attendant for the General Motors Parts Department in Bloomfield and Englewood for 37 years, Mr. McCormack retired in 1981. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 542, the General Motors Retiree Association, and the 5-gallon club of the North Jersey Blood Bank, with a total of 70 donations throughout Essex and Bergen counties.

Mr. McCormack was predeceased by his wife, Margaret McCormack (née Fedo); and his five brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two sons, John J. McCormack and his wife Debbie, and Robert M. McCormack and his wife Linda; his three grandchildren, John M. and his wife Donna J. McCormack, Laura A. Henry and her husband Timothy, and Christopher A. and his wife Corrine McCormack; and three great-grandsons Robert John, Declan Michael, and Victor Alex.

Private graveside services were held in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.

Memorial donations in his name can be made to the V.F.W. Post of your choice (vfw.org), Atlantic Hospice (atlantichealth .org), or the Bloomfield Volunteer Emergency Squad (bves.org).
