Joseph Weitekamp Obituary

WEITEKAMP Joseph G., age 81 of Englewood died August 13, 2008 in Cresskill after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn NY to Frank and Margaret Weitekamp in 1927, Joe's life encompassed service in the US Navy, a Captain with the FDNY and an Art Therapist at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens. He was also a 12-step mentor to many and was a lover of art, music, golf and his Catholic faith. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Lefevere; his devoted son Joseph and his wife Rosanna, loving grandchildren, Monica and Joseph and his brother Daniel. He is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews. He is also mourned by Katelijne and Damon Broglie-Lefevere. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; son Thomas and brothers Frank, Leo, Larry and Raymond and sisters Mary O'Gara and Joan Murphy. Friends may call at the Barrett Funeral Home 148 Dean Drive Tenafly on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass 1 PM Saturday Mt. Carmel Church Tenafly. Interment 10:30 AM Monday Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale NY. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to St. Christopher's Inn Garrison NY 10524 or Catholic Charities of Long Island 90 Cherry Lane Hicksville NY 11801.
