Judith Suzannah Tilton
Judith Suzannah Tilton went to the Other Side at 4pm on February 22, 2018. She was born on October 14, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio. A loyal graduate of Marietta College in Ohio, she taught high school science at Wheaton Academy in Illinois, Ashland Academy in Ohio, Union College in Kentucky, Good Shepherd School for five years in Ethiopia, and concluded her career in Durham, North Carolina, when in 1988 Chronic Fatigue Syndrome forced her to retire. Thereafter she was a member of several book clubs and support groups in the Research Triangle.
Suzannah met Dr. Virginia Ramey Mollenkott in the Spring of 1996, and they lived together as domestic partners until the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage. They sealed their vows in Holy Matrimony on September 26, 2013. With Virginia, Suzannah moved into Cedar Crest Village where she made many friends who loved her for her intelligence, compassion, and dry wit. She became "Nana" to Virginia's son, Paul, daughter-in-law, Barbara, and three granddaughters, Miranda, Sarina and Corrine.
She will be sadly missed by her loving spouse, Virginia, her closest friends, Debra Morrison and Deborah Reale, and many friends at Cedar Crest and in the organizations known as Christian Feminism Today and Sisterly Conversations. She was predeceased by her brother, John Tilton, and is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tilton, and three nephews, David, Brent and Eric.
A memorial service will be held in the Cedar Crest Chapel in Pompton Plains, NJ on Saturday, March 10th at 1pm.
Sleep sweetly and enjoy heaven, darling Suzannah.
