Julie Jacobs Obituary

JACOBS Julie, born Julia Potasnik in Zdunska Wola, Poland, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2010 of natural causes. A survivor who lost most of her family to the atrocities of the Holocaust , Julie arrived in the United States in 1946 with her husband Jack Jacobs (born Jacob Jacobowitz), a fellow Survivor to whom she was married in Germany following the war. In New York, Julie and Jack began to mend the tattered pieces of their young lives to build a better future and carry the legacy of those who perished. While taking classes to learn English and attain American citizenship, Julie worked to create a home for herself and her husband. after approximately ten years they gave birth to their daughter Susan, the young family moved to Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Julie and Jack resided there for nearly 50 years, enjoying their community of friends and participating actively in the congregation of Temple Beth Sholom, before moving to Morganville, New Jersey to live with their daughter and her husband Robert Miarmi. Spirited, funny, and extremely proud grandmother Julie brought Old World grace, elegance and respect to the lives of her family. She is predeceased by her parents Abraham and Chana Potasnik and her brother Jacob Patton (born Jacob Potasnik) and is survived by her loving daughter Susan, grandchildren Michael and Lindsay Miarmi, and great-grandson Jackson Rodriquez-Miarmi. We are all honored and grateful to have known her and we shall never forget, as the many memories we have of her will endure and pass through the generations. Funeral services to mourn Julie's passing and celebrate her life will be held on September 22, 2010 at 1 PM at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 west), Fair Lawn, with interment to follow at Beth El Cemetery in Paramus, NJ. Donations can be made in Julie's name to the Alzheimer's Association of VNA Central New Jersey Hospice.
